Question 1

What websites do you cover?

Accepted Answer

Right now, our Core plan covers 100+ people finder websites including AddressSearch.com, Spokeo, PeopleSearcher and many more. Our Ghost plan covers over 400+ people finder sites, offers custom removal requests, can blur your home on mapping services and our team checks real estate marketplaces for interior pictures of your home online along with much more.

Question 2

Why should I protect my personal information online?

Accepted Answer

As a police officer, you wear a bulletproof vest every shift for the extreme chance that you may be in a gunfight or struck by gunfire but what do you do to protect yourself on the internet that you use every single day? Hundreds of data broker websites buy and sell your private information without your consent selling it to marketing firms, scammers, and making it accessible to anyone with an internet connection, mostly for free. In this profession where a target is on your back, your family could become a target too, especially if someone holds a grudge against you. Having your home address and personal information online for anyone to see could one day allow the job to follow you home which we've seen happen.

Question 3

What if I find my information on a site not covered by Data Hound?

Accepted Answer

If you find a people search or data broker site that contains your personal information and is not currently covered in the Ghost plan, you can submit a request directly on your dashboard. Our privacy team will review it and do everything we can to have your information removed.

Question 4

How long does the removal process take?

Accepted Answer

The time it takes to remove your information depends on the website. Some sites process removal requests almost immediately, while others may take several weeks and require multiple follow ups from our privacy team before the information is removed. Our team tracks every request and continues following up until the process is complete whenever possible.

The online data broker landscape is constantly changing. New sites appear, existing sites shut down, and many change their opt out procedures. We continuously monitor these changes and update the list of sites covered by Data Hound so you always receive the best protection possible.

Question 5

Why Data Hound over other privacy tools for law enforcement?

Accepted Answer

Owned and operated by active law enforcement officers that use people finder sites to help with investigations. We've realized how easy it is for it to be used on us if someone holds a grudge. We believe that the tools out there don't cover every base needed to keep our families safe so we created a system that covers more than any other tool out there. From data brokers, mapping services, and real estate marketplaces, we want to make sure that you're a hard target to find and go after. We plan to continuously grow our services while keeping costs as low as possible to make online officer privacy the norm in the United States.

Question 6

How does the service work?

Accepted Answer

After signing up, we send you an exposure report so you can see how many sites give away your private information from an online search of your name. From there, we send sites in your plan a request to remove your information and continuously follow up until it's removed. Typically, these websites find a way to get your information back and that's why we scan monthly as there's an extremely high chance it will reappear.

In the Ghost plan, we have dedicated privacy agents who also check mapping services and real estate marketplaces to send you notifications if your house interior or exterior is exposed on the internet. Our privacy team can also process custom removal requests in case your info is on a site we don't cover automatically. If you do, upload the link to your profile and a screenshot in the Custom Removals page.

Question 7

Will my spouse's information also be removed?

Accepted Answer

In many cases, yes. Some of your spouse's information may also be removed when we remove records associated with you. Many people search sites organize records using shared information such as home addresses, phone numbers, and household members. If your spouse is connected to your address or phone number, removing your record may also remove theirs from those sites.

However, to fully protect your spouse's online privacy, they will need their own Data Hound account. This allows us to locate, remove, and continuously monitor records that belong specifically to them across hundreds of people search and data broker sites.
